Member Interview With Daisy Zhu at Mat Incorporated Japan

We recently asked some of our members to share their views on the industry today, the benefits of networking, and their vision for the future. Here are some comments from Daisy Zhu at Mat Incorporated, Japan.

Our company was founded in July 1997. Started from a small team focused on handling project cargo, then gradually developed over the years and transformed as a mature freight forwarding business that handles both general and project cargoes of all scales. 

 

Majority of freight forwarding business in Japan are more focused on their domestic clients, not willing to show an open attitude to overseas partners. MAT is different, we always value our overseas network very much and strive to be an open window to all the freight forwarders around the world. Our strong domestic network can cover the inland transport and customs brokage in all the major/local sea ports and major air ports in Japan. We have a professional and efficient team to answer the inquiries and job requests from our overseas partners. 

 

Ocean freight dropped back to the low level it was at before Covid. We received more inquiries of a big bulk of containers last year. But, at the end of last year, the terrorist attack in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden area is causing a space shortage and rising costs of Ocean freight again, which now means all negotiations are pending and all parties need to re-evaluate the situation.

 

Being part of this network has already brought us more jobs and business opportunities, which we are very happy with. Also in the countries where we don't have existing agency, the IFN member list is a great source to look for new business partners. We have found it very useful and helpful.
